I believe that all young people deserve to have someone who champions and cheerleads for them. I was fortunate to have parents, an older sister, neighbors, and extended family who encouraged me, celebrated with me, shared advice, taught me kindness, taught me how to be independent, and as a 43 year-old, continue to do so.
I’ve chosen to ride for Silver Lining Mentoring because young people in foster care more often than not do not have a champion or cheerleader. Whether it’s learning important life-skills (e.g. opening a savings account, finding an apartment), or long-term encouragement and friendship provided by a mentor, young people – ALL people – thrive when we feel like we matter. I ride in support of the strong mentoring relationships that Silver Lining Mentoring makes possible.
On Saturday our riders will be riding 25 or 50 miles in support of Silver Lining Mentoring! Help our riders cross their fundraising finish lines and support long-lasting, committed mentoring relationships for youth in foster care by donating today!
