Sally, Christelle., and SLM mentorsWe were thrilled to host our annual Mentor Appreciation Night on October 3 and say a huge THANK YOU to those who show up for young people no matter what: our Silver Lining mentors. While the games and prizes added to the fun, what made the evening special was the camaraderie shared and the opportunity to deepen relationships with both staff and one another. It was a night filled with moving stories, laughter, and meaningful connections.

Mentors Gabe, Indigo, and Aidan along with SLM staff Lauren at Mentor Appreciation NightIn a world of uncertainty our mentors have remained strong, choosing to make a difference in their communities so that no young person gets left behind. Their selfless dedication serves as a powerful reminder of the impact of one consistent, positive relationship can have on a young person in foster care. This inspires us at Silver Lining Mentoring to continue advocating for ways to expand mentoring opportunities and deepen our support for mentors, ensuring they can keep showing up for youth when it matters most.

We think our mentors are pretty incredible. Each one commits to at least 8 hours per month for a minimum of one year with a young person impacted by foster care. What’s even more impressive is that our mentors frequently share how they receive so much more than they give.

This memorable evening was a small way we could express our gratitude to those who are there for our young people no matter what.
