Silver Lining Mentoring was fortunate to, once again, participate in the Boston Marathon®, the world’s oldest running marathon (pun intended!), through the Bank of America Boston Marathon® Official Charity Program.

We are so grateful to our 2024 team of runners, Abby, Callie, Matt, and Ron for raising over $45,000 to provide youth in foster care with a caring, committed Silver Lining mentor.

Those who run for for Silver Lining demonstrate the commitment that our mentors show for youth in foster care. Our volunteers run for many  reasons, but their dedication to youth in foster care is something they share.

“I know that children in foster care especially benefit from the support of mentors and programs like Silver Lining. I love the long term value that Silver Lining emphasizes in terms of staying connected to each youth,” commented Callie.

Matt explained, “When I was young I had some troubles and was very positively impacted by a mentor and taught how to make my own way. I have since been blessed in my life. I’m very thankful for the lessons I learned and think our youth deserve similar opportunities.”

“I am a big believer in mentorship,” says Abby, “which has made an invaluable difference in my own life, and there is no group I can think of more in need of great mentors than our youth in foster care.”

We want to especially thank Ron who despite suffering an injury while training that prevented him from running, completed his fundraising goal.

We’re so inspired by our 2024 Marathon team for their hard work and commitment to young people in foster care!
