This past Saturday Melissa Chu and Laurie Palagyi jumped in the car and headed up to New Hampshire for a training in Adventure-based Education. During the day, Melissa and Laurie familiarized themselves with an adventure-based model of facilitation focused on actively engaging children, youth and young adults while being surrounded by beautiful woods, wooden yurts and high and low challenge courses. Whether it was being tied together with other members of the group while racing against other teams, having a sticker placed on their foreheads, or sharing their experience of the activities they engaged in, both staff are eager to bring the adventure-based model back to AFC and incorporate what they learned with the amazing young people they work with!
