A Special Night in Miami Raises $100,000 for Silver Lining Mentoring

On November 2, 2024, over 150 people gathered at R House Wynwood in Miami for Party With a Purpose, a vibrant FUNdraiser for Silver Lining Mentoring featuring the unforgettable R House Queens. Together, we raised over $100,000 to ensure that youth in foster care have access to a caring, committed adult relationship!

We are so grateful to everyone who joined us, along with the performers and the entire R House staff. We want to especially thank our 2024 Party With a Purpose co-chairs, SLM board chair Tom Shirk and board member Matthew Meehan, for their fierce commitment and leadership.

Party With a Purpose is a night of hope, connection, and inspiration paired with delectable cuisine and show-stopping performances. Silver Lining Mentoring CEO Colby Swettberg painted a picture of the disruption and uncertainty that characterize life in foster care and the crucial role mentoring can play for youth experiencing it. Tom and Matthew also shared their personal connections to Silver Lining Mentoring, emphasizing the importance of having someone to rely on—a basic need that many young people in foster care are often denied, through no fault of their own.

The funds raised will help us combat the loneliness and isolation that often accompany life in foster care. Thanks to the generosity of so many, we can offer a Silver Lining mentor to those who need it most.
